Right away, the cards start flipping face up and face down in ways that make no sense, as if they have a life of their own. Suddenly, the queen disappears completely, leaving only the aces. Just as you think the queen is gone for good, Paul removes one card, and, astonishingly, the queen reappears among the cards still in play. Then the routine escalates: two of the cards transform into entirely new cards, and for the final blow, the queen’s back changes colour, proving you never really had a chance of keeping track of her.
