A card is picked by the magician and turned perpendicular to the rest of the Deck to lock in his choice. The spectator is asked to pick the mate of the magicians card in the other half of the Deck through a random process. The spectator picks a different card (bummer), but the magicians card that has been in sight the entire time ends up being the mate of the spectators card!
