Raphael Czaja - UNTRACEABLE
"The descriptions sound perfectly accurate. [...] I REALLY like it!" - Vlad (Magic Cafe Forums)
"Effect #1 is great. [...] Good job!" - Ryan Schlutz
NB: The descriptions below are purposely very detailed so you have an accurate transcription of what is seen by the spectator. Note that he can genuinely shuffle the deck as he wants (overhand, riffle, hindu, etc). No sleight or secret move from the magician. No marking system. No gaff or any hidden gimmick. Only use a regular deck.
EFFECT #1: While shuffling a deck of cards, you proclaim to have a sixth sense that enables you to feel things around you without the need for seeing, hearing or touching them; like detecting pulse beats from a close distance. To prove it, you invite a spectator to join you for an experiment that unfolds like this:
- The spectator cuts the deck in about three equal parts, puts one aside and mixes up the two remaining parts as one big pile.
- He remembers the top card of his chosen pile and loses it in the big pile that you have fanned out in front of him.
- He shuffles his chosen pile while you shuffle the big pile. Then, he is given yours so he can mix up the whole deck.
- He spreads the deck on the table face up and removes a few cards at random, except for one that has to be his thought-of card.
- He moves his hand from card to card while you gently wave yours a few inches below, explaining that his pulse rate should significantly change when above his selection.
- After almost every card has been turned down, as you hesitate, you ask him to move his hand back and forth between the last face-up card and a face-down card next to it. Finally, you turn the last face-up card over and pick up the face-down card instead.
- For the first time, you invite him to reveal the name of his thought-of card. Let's say it is the 6 of Hearts. Against all odds, you display the face of your card... It is also the 6 of Hearts!
EFFECT #2: While shuffling a deck of cards, you proclaim to have a sixth sense that enables you to play most of the odds in your favor. In other words, you are lucky! To prove it, you invite a spectator to join you for an experiment that unfolds like this:
- The spectator cuts the deck in half and remembers the card he cut to. He loses his card and mixes everything up like in the previous effect but this time, he returns the deck to you.
- First, you explain that you are going to determine what the selection's suit may be. With the faces towards yourself, you look through the deck and removes 13 cards, pointing out that they are the Diamonds and that one of them must belong to the spectator.
- Then, you explain that you are going to determine what the selection's value may be. With the faces towards yourself, you look through the packet, remove one card and announce you are holding a King.
- Unfortunately, the spectator reveals to have actually picked the 7 of Hearts. You pretend to look annoyed during a matter of seconds but quickly turn the card face up to display... the 7 of Hearts!
