A small piece of plastic the size of a playing-card is shown and placed across the mouth of a tumbler. A 2p piece (or USA 5 cent piece) is placed on top of the plastic and covered by the lid of a small brass box. On tapping the lid, the coin penetrates the plastic and falls into the tumbler! The coin is recovered and placed into the box and the lid placed on. This is placed on the plastic and tapped. THIS TIME THE COIN PENETRATES THE BOX AND THE PLASTIC TO FALL INTO THE TUMBLER!
Finally, the empty box is covered by the upturned tumbler ... the coin is placed on the base of the tumbler. The coin is covered by the plastic which is then tapped. The coin vanishes. The tumbler is removed, (and this can be done by a spectator) the box opened, and the coin is found inside. If desired, everything can be examined.
