The Gold Room Standard by Docc Hilford

One of the best demonstrations of mind reading is serial number divination. Because it’s a completely random number that isn’t too personal like a PIN or cell number. It’s fast and with the correct methodology, nearly perfect. The problem lies only in the fact that there are loads of inadequate methods that have been dumped on mentalists over the years. If a bill isn’t forced from a set group, then it’s usually switched. And the switching can involve envelopes, wallets or even giant dollar bills! Any time the mentalist handles a borrowed bill, the audience figures he’s switching it! Most serial number divination tricks fail because of the switch. To be successful, the audience should NEVER think the bill could have been switched.

THE GOLD ROOM STANDARD uses an invisible switch that happens in about ONE SECOND! For the 13 years I’ve been performing this, the audiences have believed that there could never be a switch of the ONLY bill they ever see.

EFFECT: A borrowed bill is rolled into a ball by a spectator in the front. It’s tossed to the back of the audience where a random spectator unrolls it and silently reads the numbers. You can recite those actual numbers. And unlike other methods that switch memorized bill, you don’t memorize anything!

No special props are needed.
No stooges or accomplices.
And you give the guy in the front four quarters for his buck, and let the guy in the back keep the dollar!
Everything is super clean.
